electrodes for ladle heating furnace

A ladle furnace is composed by a three-electrode electric system, operating AC mode; working into a three-phase electrical circuit, usually placed on the vertices of an equilateral triangle in around the furnace.

The three electrodes submerged in slag layer in LF furnace are for heating. This heating method generates less radiant heat, is pro-tective to the lining, and has high thermal ef- fi. ciency. The graphite submerged in slag will react with the oxides in slag, which will enhance reduc-ing capacity of slag, and increase recovery rate of alloy.

Cored wire addition for trimming and morphology control. Provide a means for dephosphorization or deep desulphurization. Act as a buffer for downstream equipment and process. A Ladle Metallurgy Furnace uses three large, graphite electrodes to reheat the steel bath in the ladle.

In the ASEA–SKF process, ladle was put down in a chamber which had two lids, one for vacuum treatment and the other lid with three electrodes for heating. Another method introduced in the 1960s was Finkl–Mohr process which had only one, vacuum-tight lid through which the electrodes were inserted.

Electrotherm, a leading manufacturer of MF induction furnaces, committed themselves to develop a small capacity ladle refining furnace. For small heats, three-electrode AC-arc LRFs are not successful because of high refractory erosion in the area adjacent to …

Graphite electrodes are used to refine steel in ladle furnaces and in other smelting processes. SHP – A premium grade recommended for ladle furnaces or for low-power melting applications where standard electrodes fail to perform.

Many different solutions have been developed, such as: LF with inert roof, supported on one side only for optimal accessibility; Twin LF with two treatment positions and swivelling electrodes; handling in the ladle furnace by ladle cars or …

 — Ladle furnaces have heating elements of three graphitic electrodes connected to an arcing transformer. The electrodes help heat the molten steel from the mini-mill or the integrated steel mill. The bottom of the ladle furnace consists of a pipeline through which argon gas is pumped for the homogeneous stirring of liquid steel in the …

 — The three electrodes submerged in slag layer in LF furnace are for heating. This heating method generates less radiant heat, is protective to the lining, and has high thermal efficiency. The graphite submerged in slag will react with the oxides in slag, which will enhance reducing capacity of slag, and increase recovery rate of alloy.

 — Ladle furnaces are known for their high power consumption, making research on power-saving process crucial. In response to the defect of thin slag thickness in the industrial production of a 120-t ladle furnace at a steel plant, with its production of ship plate steel DH36 as the focus, experiments involving adding the ing agent and shifting …
